About us
A Celebration of Art
We are an Artist Exhibition and Art Trail, held annually the second weekend of November, established for over 30 years.
We showcase a balance of emerging and established artists and artisans connected to our local area – aiming to foster and celebrate community relationship with the arts.
Origin story
The 90s. The rural-urban fringe of Sydney, in Arcadia. A small group of local artists opened up their studios to neighbours and the local community. Founding member, and local artist Kathleen Berney, started the event in 1990.
Forging a relationship with local artists and community, the trail sought to connect artist, artwork and patrons. We have grown from a one-day event, comprised of six artists at five Arcadian locations, to an annual collective of 45 artists across 7 locations through Arcadia, Galston and Dural.
Art in a Bushland Oasis
Visitors can experience the beauty and serenity of our beautiful northern Sydney rural enclave that inspires so many of the artists who are residents in the district.
Pauline Brewer, Southern Highlands, NSW
Helen Symons, Northwood, NSW
"The Arcadian Artists Exhibition and Trail is a wonderful way for the public to engage directly with the artists and talk with them about their inspiration and work."
Tracey Grieve, Mulgoa, NSW
“It is so much more meaningful to be able to connect with the artist... it brings the artwork to life.”
Our Philosophy
Arcadian Artists is a unique and interesting exhibition combining art, artist and people who love and embrace the arts, as well as our wonderful natural environment.
Throughout the years we have endeavoured to support and provide an avenue for both experienced and emerging artists from inside and outside the community to showcase their creative talents.
Our purpose is to bring together creative people and those who have an appreciation of their work.
Our Mission Statement
Always held on the second weekend of November, the Arcadian Artists Exhibition and Art Trail aims to foster and celebrate the arts in the local community and beyond; to bring the community together and to create a unique country experience for our visitors in this beautiful rural area of Sydney.
Connected by a beautiful meandering country drive, seven working studios have a total of more than 45 artists and artisans exhibiting their wares and demonstrating their skills in some instances, during the weekend.
Why We Are Unique
Each of the seven venues on the trail are working artist studios, with additional exhibiting artists invited for the trail. In this way, the exhibition can encompass a wide variety of talented creatives, and a diverse range of artistic disciplines, ensuring an artistic feast for our visitors!
Across the years our artistic disciplines have extended across artforms of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, metalwork, woodworking, felting, embroidery, resin art, silversmithing, shoemaking, book binding and basket weaving, printmaking, glass art, jewellery, textile art, photography, weaving, fashion design, mixed media, stained glass, blacksmithing.
